It will be held most likely at the beginning of October at the Crystal Lake Library. Andrea will be heading up the organizing of this day. Nine ladies have already signed up for our 2nd Annual Knitting Retreat. We have a block of room set aside under Cultured Purls Knitting Guild. For all the information on the retreat please refer to our web page. For our June and July project we will be making a felted Gnome, led by Turid.
You will need three different colors of wool yarn (that can be felted). Our 2nd Annual Auction followed the general meeting. It was a rousing success and I hope everyone had as much fun as I did!! Thanks to all who helped put the auction together and run it especially Lee our "auctioneer", Sue for helping collect and keep track of all the money, Karen and Kathleen for keeping all the knitting items flowing to the auctioneer and lastly for all our members who brought all the wonderful knitting items that made the auction truly a success! follows: Thank you for all your hard work-it will truly be appreciated!! Our newsletter just was mailed to all our paid members. As usual, Marie did a wonderful job in getting it out. If any of our members sees something interesting in the knitting field PLEASE get it to Marie for the newsletter. Karen brought up the fact that we did not have a project for our May meeting. It was decided to have our "2nd Annual Yarn/Books/Mags Auction" at the May meeting. Karen's husband had kindly offered to be our Auctioneer again. Before the meeting bring any yarn that you want to sell in a plastic bag with your first and last name in magic marker on the outside of the bag and also the minimum amount that you need for it. If that yarn sells you get the money-not the guild. If you have duplicate knitting books you want to sell just put your name again on the outside of the book with the minimum amount to need for that book. Last year we had groups of old "Work Basket" mags that were put up for sale. We had so much fun last year!! Karen announced there are several Fiber Fairs coming up in April: Helga announced that the new members' coffee will be held on April 15th
(Sunday) from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Panera Bread in Crystal Lake. A survey was handed out to all our members present tonight (40 total) to see how many of them would be interested in another knitting retreat this year. The last count I saw was 25 of the ladies said they would be very interested in attending a retreat. We are trying to hold it a little earlier in the year as the weather last year turned nasty. All 18 members that attended last year had such a good time though, despite the weather! Look for more info on the retreat in the near future. Don't forget the Charity Knitting Meeting coming up this Tuesday, March 20th. It will be held at Panera Bread, in Fox River Grove, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Peggy will be bringing some patterns and extra yarn for our charity projects. Tonight Bonnie taught the class on cables and the project of a cable purse, and Dawn did a demo on cables without a cable needle.
