Monthly Meeting Reviews, 2008

 

April

 

Karen opened the meeting at 7:10 p.m.  We had two visitors, Gerry from

near Volo and another visitor from Hartford, Ohio.

We had 25 attendees at last night's meeting.  Thanks to Ellie for

bringing the yummy brownies and also for the box of candy from another

member.

Susan/Treasurer stated our balance as of today was $1125.02 with 57

paid members.

Marie/newsletter just mailed the newsletter yesterday so look for it

in the mail in the next few days. Again, if you hear of anything

interesting for our newsletter please e-mail Marie with it. The next

newsletter deadline will be the last Friday in May.

The Sip and Knit that was organized by Bonnie turned our great!! There

were 16 members present. Thanks to Bonnie for this enjoyable evening.

Some of the coming events in our area are:

April 19th-Stephenson County Fiber Art Fair, Cedarville, Il

July 18-20-Midwest Fiber and Folk Art Fair held at McHenry County College (formerly held at the Dole Mansion last year).

Thanks to Nan for the great Yoga demonstration tonight. If you would

like to further investigate the art of Yoga please contact Nan.

We need an instructor for our June meeting. Please contact Karen if

you are interested in teaching our group.

Our May 13th meeting is our 3rd Annual Auction.  What fun we have!! If

you have any yarn, knitting books or magazines, needles, etc. that you

no longer want or use bring them to sell.  The items have to be put in

separate baggies with your full name on the baggie and your minimum

bid (price you want).  Each member that comes signs in and gets a "bid"

number. At the end of the auction the money is divided up to what you

bought and what you sold.  It is so much fun!! Any questions e-mail

Karen opened the meeting at 7:20 p.m. in which we had 29 members present.
We had three visitors tonight. Jennifer and her niece and Jackie, both
from Woodstock.
Thanks to Diane for bringing her wonderful Banana Muffins!
Treasurer's Report: Susan stated that the ending balance as of 3/11/08
is $1125.06.
We had a lot of charity items brought in tonight for our Centegra
Charity project. They were as follows:
Deanette and her friend Chris: one chemo hat and 6 baby hats
Bonnie: baby blanket, sweater with matching bonnet
Janet: two baby hats
Evelyn: three baby hats and 4 pairs of booties
Again, thanks to these ladies who took the time to donate their work!!
Newsletter: Our March newsletter is almost ready to be mailed out to
our members. Marie says it is not to early to send her more articles
and info for our next newsletter!
Our last workshop held from Feb.22-24 was a great success!! Thanks to
Bonnie for hosting Carol Hurt for this workshop.
Bonnie is having a sip and knit at Conscious Cup restaurant in Crystal
Lake on April 1st at 7:00 p.m. Any questions? E-mail Bonnie with them.
Tonight, the lesson was "two color knitting" taught by Marie.
We need instructors for the months of June, September, and October. Please
help out!!
There are quite a few shows coming up. Be sure to check our the
Cultured Purl's Web Site to learn about them and their dates.
Don't forget to store up and save all your yarn and knitting items for
our upcoming "3rd Annual Auction" to be held at our monthly meeting in
May.

Karen opened the meeting at 7:33 p.m. We had two visitors tonight.
Before the meeting we had a wonderful potluck dinner for our holiday party.

or us to enjoy!
Our 2008 Officers ran unopposed. They are as follows:
President: Karen H.
Vice President: Marie D.
Secretary: Peggy S.
Treasurer: Susan R.
The five board members were voted on tonight and they are:

Erica S.
Membership: At the end of 2007 we had a total of 68 paid members.
Susan our Treasurer took checks and cash tonight for the 2008
membership dues, which are $15/per person for the year. If you
haven't paid your dues yet be sure to do so a.s.a.p. Checks are to be
made out to Susan Ronn, NOT Cultured Purls.
Our ending 2007 balance in our account was $$712.60.
Charity: Lots of items brought in tonight. They are as follows:
Minnie brought in 2 Chemo Hats and 3 Baby Hats.
Mary Joan brought in a Baby Hat.
Barb brought in 9 Baby Hats and two sets of mitts!!
Evelyn knitted two baby hats, two pairs of booties, and a blanket.
Thanks to all the above ladies for adding items for our Centegra
Hospital Charity!!
Karen announced that the new 2008 board meeting will be held at Barnes
and Noble, Crystal Lake at 7 p.m.

Karen announced that she had received an e-mail from our former
Vice-President, Linda D who hasn't been able to attend meetings
due to an illness. She said she is stronger and doing better.
Lastly, Karen stated that we will be having a weekend workshop by
Carol Hurt from St. Louis. It is going to be held on February 23 &
24. You may find further details of this workshop on our web site soon.
Meeting ended around 8:15 p.m. After the meeting our Guild handed out
Christmas gifts for each member.
